The lab

Keele UniversityThe Innovative Therapeutics in Cancer Lab is led by Dr Gianpiero Di Leva and based at the Institute for Science & Medicine of the Keele University. The laboratory was established in April 2019 and explores novel pre-clinical strategies to increase the therapeutic efficacy of cancer treatments. The laboratory is currently testing the anti-proliferative activity of selective inhibitors of kinases involved in medulloblastoma, the most common malignant paediatric brain tumour, and breast cancer. Another major interest of the laboratory is to understand how transcriptional signalling and small noncoding RNAs crosstalk to define the aggressive behaviour of medulloblastoma cells. Through various collaborations within and out the Keele University, the laboratory aims to identify innovative therapeutic strategies that will improve the clinical use of well-established chemotherapeutic drugs and change our approach to treatment.
